Built in 1836 and lovingly restored, this heritage retreat offers a rare sanctuary of the senses in an unencumbered environment.
Here, mornings begin with soft light spilling over the Rooiberg Mountains, and evenings end beside the firepit under starlit skies.
Guests can wander along succulent-lined trails, trace the ridges on mountain bikes, or simply drift between the stoep and the shimmering pool while the Karoo breeze whispers through the pepper trees. With the main Farmhouse sleeping 10 and the romantic Goose House Cottage for two, Daniel’s Kraal is perfect for families, couples, or creatives seeking calm inspiration.
A Message from Peter & Celia Hayward
“Since 1991, our journey through southern Africa’s wildest corners has gifted us extraordinary moments, from royal banquets beneath acacias to dawn breakfasts beside elephants. Yet behind every grand safari comes a quiet longing for stillness — a place to exhale and restore.
We found that stillness at Daniel’s Kraal. Nestled within the Rooiberg Mountains, surrounded by fynbos and the gentle hum of nature, it became our place of peace, our true north.
And now, we open it to you. Come, breathe with us, and experience the same quiet magic that keeps calling us home.”

Restored. Renewed. Ready for You.
Following months of dedicated restoration, Daniel’s Kraal Farm now stands renewed. A living canvas of heritage and craftsmanship.
Step through the weathered yellow wood doors, and the scent of polished wood and earth greets you. The dining room, anchored by its stately AGA stove, hums once more with laughter and candlelight. The old Pioneer Kitchen, once silent, is alive with the warmth of slow-brewed coffee and stories shared over Delft mugs.
Each bedroom tells its own tale: Waterkloof’s secluded garden bathroom opens to the scent of wild rosemary; Doringkloof’s terrace glows golden in the late-afternoon sun; Patatkamer, with its crisp linens and soft clay walls, feels like a gentle exhale after the city.
Beyond the main house, the Goose House Cottage has been reborn. A romantic nook with an outdoor hot tub shaded by succulents, while the Tented Explorers Camp and Pioneer Wagon Camp (launching in March 2026) mark the first steps of a new frontier: experiences that merge nostalgia with adventure.

“We’re proud to share the results of our latest restorations, a project that has been a true labour of love. The gardens are finding their rhythm again, the paint has dried, the scent of wood oil lingers in the air, and the old farmhouse stands renewed with fresh spirit.
With every brushstroke and bloom, Daniel’s Kraal has rediscovered its soul. From the Pioneer Kitchen and the AGA-warmed dining room to the reimagined garden suites and the intimate Goose House Cottage, every corner reflects the dedication of local hands and hearts who helped bring her back to life.
As summer approaches, we extend a warm invitation to our friends and supporters: come see what we’ve created together and experience the beauty of Daniel’s Kraal, restored.”

Make it Yours
We invite you to come and enjoy the festive season, let the Klein Karoo work its quiet magic. Rediscover the rejuvenation of the senses that only a place like this can offer.
Yours Sincerely,
Peter & Celia Hayward
